The school in november 2012

 

The students at Kobisala here have a brake, when we visited them in november 2012. They are jumping with a long roap..just like we did as children...

 

 

Some of the teacher had left for further education and new challenges in life and we welcome the new teachers and hope they will like the challenges at Kobisala ! 

This automn  Koobisala started with the first  Fisrst grade in Primary school !  (not only nursery school) A new room hade been compleeted during the rainy seasom. We congratulate Buba and the people in the neigbourghood for this development !

The children were singing songs for us both in english and mandinka.

This is an advertise in Swedish   to recrute new visitors and doners in Sweden.

Stödföreningen i Sverige, Barnen i Sanyang, arbetar för att barnen i Sanyang, Gambia, ska få gå i skola – alla barnen !att flickorna inte ska könsstympas,och inte ska giftas bort före 18 års ålder, mm

Medlemmarna i Sverige betalar 100 skr i månaden som oavkortat går till Kobisla nursery-school i Gambia.
Hittills har de fått medel fyra gånger per år som räcker till några lärarlöner. Från och med HT12 startar en första klass.i Primary school också !
 
Medlemmar är välkomna att komma och delta i verksamheten i föskolan och i mammaklubben, och bo en vecka eller 2 i byn Sanyang, antingen hos Rosalie och Baboucarr Sanyang eller hos vänner i byn Sanyang.

I vinter startar vi en studiecirkel på nätet om livet i Gambia. Cirkeln avslutas med en resa under februari -mars 2013, för dem som vill. Anmäl dig på

Preliminära profileringar de olika veckorna:

vecka 10 har vi trumkurs på kvällarna och fokuserar på kultur och traditionsfrågor.
Vecka 11 besöker vi alla de föreningar och verksamheter som haft samarbetsprojekt med svensk arbetarrörelse och fokuserar mer på utveckling och politik.
Vecka 12 målar vi i olja, akryl eller akvarell halva dagarna och träffar konstnärer och har föreläsningar på kvällarna.

Och samtliga veckor lär vi känna vardgaslivet och människorna i byn Sanyang och badar på Paradise beach i Sanyang.   Du köper din egen resa  till Gambia, men betalar för boende i Sanyag och kursprogram på plats.

On monday the 17:th of sptember the nursery school starts again after the rainy season.
We whish all pupils and staff wellcome back! We hope you all have had a good  garden season, so that you wil have good food to eat!
Here in Sweden we are just closing our annual meeting in the supportclub  " The Sanyang children".
Rosalie Sanyang is realected as chair person, and we will try to mobilise for more supporters.
You have done a very good job in the Gambia, according to Buba , as he tells us you have got ok from the authoritis, not only to run a nursery school but also to run a primary school if you can manage to rais the money needed. Congratulation! Woldn´t that be wunderful !
It is not easy to get supporters  but we promisse you that we will try !

Graduation ceremony

Now, on Saturday the 14:th of July there will be the annual graduation ceremony at Kobisala nursery school. Here you can se some of the photos from the graduation ceremony last year. We hope Buba will soon report from this year’s graduation

As newly retiered I stayed in the Gambia from october 11 to january 12. This was the longest stay so far. We continued the studycircles in Mandinka and English for the mothers during my stay. I now regard these women as real personal friends. I am really happy to have them! We worked together in the electioncampaign, we had parties singing and dancing and we struggeled with the studdies. Around Christmas our headmaster Buba Bojan got marrtied to a lovely teacher from Gunjur Fatou Cham. At New Year we had a big party for them in our compound and continued down at the beach to wellcome the new yaear 2012. During easter 2012. A new member in our supportorganisation, Kristina Larsson (who works for ABF in the south of Sweden, and is bulding a home in a willage shortly north of Sanyang.) visited Kobisala, bringing our contribution to Buba. Now beginning of june 2012 we hear that the rain has started in the Gambia allreaddy. And we do hope that this season shall be better for gardening than last one. Our friends in the Gambia have a tuff time, and do need our support ! Rosalie Sanyang
